MISSISAUGA MAJORS GIRLS SOFTBALL LEVELS OF PLAY
HOUSE LEAGUE PROGRAM
The House League program is the foundation of Mississauga Majors softball and is designed to provide girls of all ages (7 - 21) and skill levels with a fun, inclusive, and safe place to learn and play the game. Whether a player is brand new to softball or returning with experience, every athlete is welcomed and given the opportunity to participate, develop skills, and enjoy being part of a team.
The focus of House League is on skill development, teamwork, confidence-building, sportsmanship, and having fun. Players learn the fundamentals of throwing, catching, hitting, base running, and game play in a positive and supportive environment led by dedicated coaches and volunteers.
Mississauga Majors House League teams compete in the Mississauga Etobicoke Girls Softball (MEGS) league, where players have the opportunity to play against other local associations throughout the season. MEGS provides a great community-based level of competition while keeping the emphasis on player development, friendship, and enjoyment of the game.

SELECT PROGRAM
The Select Program is designed for players who are looking for an additional level of competition while continuing to play in House League. It provides athletes with the opportunity to further develop their softball skills through enhanced training, increased game experience, and tournament play.
Select teams are formed from House League players who demonstrate strong skill, effort, and interest in competing at a more advanced level. Teams are formed across each age division based on available interest. Players typically attend tryouts in the fall or in the spring, and selected athletes represent the Mississauga Majors in additional games and tournaments beyond the regular House League schedule.
Mississauga Majors Select teams compete through the Ontario Select Softball Tournament Association (OSSTA), which offers players the opportunity to compete against Select teams from across Ontario. The Select Program is ideal for athletes who want more softball, more development opportunities, and exposure to a higher level of competition while maintaining the community atmosphere of House League.

REP PROGRAM
The Rep Program offers players the opportunity to compete at the highest level of minor softball available through the Mississauga Majors. This program is intended for athletes who are committed to advanced skill development, competitive play, and representing the organization at an elite level.
Rep players are selected through fall tryouts and participate in structured team training, league play, exhibition games, and tournaments throughout the year. Teams typically train year-round, including offseason development, indoor winter training, and a full competitive summer schedule. Players are challenged to continue improving their skills, softball knowledge, athleticism, teamwork, and leadership both on and off the field.
Mississauga Majors Rep teams compete against top programs across Ontario through the Provincial Women’s Softball Association (PWSA) and other sanctioned tournaments. The Rep Program provides athletes with a high-performance environment and the opportunity to compete against some of the strongest competition in the province while proudly representing the Mississauga Majors.

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITES
HOUSE LEAGUE WINTER SKILLS TRAINING
The House League Winter Training Program is designed to help players stay active and continue developing their softball skills during the off-season in a fun, supportive indoor environment. Offered by the Mississauga Majors, these sessions focus on building strong fundamentals including throwing, catching, hitting, fielding, and overall game awareness.
Winter training is open to both new and returning players and is structured to ensure skill development is appropriate for all experience levels. Coaches emphasize proper technique, confidence building, and positive reinforcement while keeping sessions engaging and fast-paced. Availability is limited due to facility space and programming capacity, and registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Many players in the House League program also use winter training as preparation for the upcoming season in the Mississauga Etobicoke Girls Softball (MEGS), helping them enter the spring season with improved skills, readiness, and confidence.
BECOME AN UMPIRE
The Umpire Program with the Mississauga Majors provides an excellent opportunity for youth and adults to get involved in the game from a different perspective while supporting local softball. Umpires play a key role in ensuring fair play, safety, and a positive game experience for all players within the organization.
This program is open to individuals who are interested in learning the rules of softball, developing leadership skills, and gaining valuable on-field experience. No previous umpiring experience is required, as training and mentorship are provided to help new umpires build confidence and competence.
Umpires have the opportunity to officiate games within the Mississauga Etobicoke Girls Softball (MEGS) House League, with opportunities to progress to higher levels of play as experience is gained. In addition to earning game fees, umpiring helps develop strong communication skills, decision-making abilities, and a deeper understanding of the sport.
The Umpire Program is a great pathway for players, former players, and community members who want to stay connected to softball while taking on a meaningful and rewarding role in the game.
