House League Overview

Goal

The goal of our house leagues is to foster a love for baseball in our players. This is accomplished by focusing on teaching fundamental skills and strategies in a safe and fun environment. We have accomplished our goal if the players want to play again next year! Peewee and younger age groups compete in the Mississauga Majors house league. Bantam and older age groups compete in the Mississauga Baseball Lakeshore League (MBLL).

Registration

Players should register at one of three registration days at the Crooks Park clubhouse. Players must bring a completed registration form and payment in the form of a cheque, credit, debit or cash. Players new to the Majors organization must also bring a photocopy of their birth certificate with them.

Ratings

One of our strategies for making house league play fun for all is to create teams with similar overall talent levels. In order to accomplish this, we require all players to attend an evaluation session on Ratings Day. During each 60-90 minute ratings sessions, players are evaluated on their ability to catch, throw and hit. This information is then used by the coaches when they draft their teams. We try our best to accommodate requests to play for certain coaches or with certain players unless it interferes with creating "equal" teams.

What happens next?

During the week after the draft meeting, coaches will contact players and schedule a first team practice. At this practice, the coach will distribute uniforms as well as a schedule for uniform adjustments, games, practices, playoffs and picture day. House league teams typically play one game per week and practice once per week throughout the summer in our community. There is little to no travel outside of our community. Please make every effort to avoid scheduling vacations during picture day and playoffs.
