A word on releases.....
Baseball in Ontario is played across almost every region within the province with levels of competition ranging from Community Baseball (House League) all the way up to REP and Elite league play. The concept of "play where you live" is especially important to ensure a balance of competition and that Association teams are truly representative of the areas in which they serve.
As such, while there are processes in place to allow players to tryout for associations outside the geographic areas where they live, the request for release is not automatic.
Unless there are compelling circumstances surrounding a request for release, most releases are NOT granted and are at the full discretion of the Association.
Pending review of the release request, the resulting decision will be one of the following:
1 - Release granted
2 - Release denied
3 - Requirement to attend the appropriate Majors tryout, and if a position is offered, the release request will be denied. If a position is not offered, the release may be granted.
