OBA 13U Rep Quick Guide for Parents (2025)

Equipment
- Bats: Max barrel 2-3/4 in. For 12U and 13U, non-wood bats must be either 1.15 BPF (USSSA) or USA Baseball, up to minus-10 drop. Wood is always allowed.
- Cleats: No metal cleats at 13U. Use moulded rubber or TPU.
- Helmets: Double-ear flap helmets for on-deck, batter, runners, and bat helpers. Chinstraps optional at 13U. Catchers must wear full gear including a throat protector. Anyone warming up a pitcher must wear a catcher mask with throat guard.
- Baseballs: Use OBA-approved balls. Common choices up to 13U include Rawlings RTDC, RTD1, or ROLB1X. ROMLCAN and ROMC are approved for all divisions. Rawlings is the official baseball of OBA.
Field and Game
- Diamond: 75 ft bases, 50 ft mound.
- Game length: 7 innings. No time limit in Rep playoffs and National Qualifier games; tournaments may set curfews or time limits.
- Mercy rule (all Rep): 18 after 3, 15 after 4, 10 after 5 or later. If the home team leads at the threshold after the top half, the game ends.
- Lineup option (EP): At 12U to 15U you may start 10 batters using an Extra Player. The EP is a defensive position and eligible for re-entry.

- No pitching on 4 consecutive days. Three straight days allowed only if the 3-day total stays at or below the no-rest limit.
- A player who pitches cannot catch the same day, and a player who catches cannot pitch the same day.
- The OBA Pitch Count app is the official record for sanctioned games.
